Black Watch Royal Highlanders Officer's/SNCO's Glengarry badge - white metal and gilding metal with a silver plated backing plate un-hallmarked.
This is a Great War example attributable to William John Elliott who left the Shanghai Municipal Police to return to UK to join up in 1917 initially as a mechanic in the RFC. He was commissioned into the Black Watch before transferring RAF as a trainee pilot and later to the Chinese Labour Corps. On demobilisation in 1919 he returned to the Shanghai Police and later to transfer to the Public Works Department. He served in the Shanghai Volunteer Corps reaching the rank of CQMS.
